The 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE features a digital version of an IWC watch integrated into its dashboard.
The partnership began in 2004, focusing on combining IWC’s horological expertise with AMG's performance and engineering prowess. This collaboration aimed to create synergies between the two brands, both known for their precision, craftsmanship, and innovation.
In recent years, the partnership has evolved to include digital integrations, such as the virtual IWC watch featured in the dashboard of the 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE. This digital rendition of the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 exemplifies how the collaboration continues to innovate, blending traditional watchmaking with modern automotive technology.
Designing Luxury: UI and UX at their finest
The aim was to replicate the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41, without loosing the high-tech aesthetic of the new EQS. With a mix of 3D animation, motion, and graphic design, I was able to blend the two world together.
Particular attention was put into the UI/UX features. The digital watch includes all the functionalities of the physical model, such as chronograph features, a day and date display, and stopwatch capabilities. The stopwatch can be controlled through virtual buttons on the touchscreen that mimic the traditional pushers of a physical watch.
If you’re a watch enthusiast, you might appreciate that this digital watch preserves the aesthetic and functional details of the IWC design, providing a unique integration of horological elegance within a high-performance vehicle.

Visually impressive, radically easy to operate and extremely eager to learn: the MBUX
Hyperscreen is one of the highlights in the EQS. It represents the emotional intelligence of the all-
electric upper-class model: The large, curved screen unit stretches almost the entire width from the
left to the right A-pillar.
